Former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has embarked after registering for Guildford Phoenix.
The 37-year-old, who is now technical and functionality adviser at Chelsea, retired at the conclusion of last year from professional soccer.
Cech trained with the Guildford Flames a different hockey side, before this year and the prior Czech Republic international has joined the Phoenix as a goaltender.
I am delighted to have the opportunity to play with the Phoenix to find match experience, Cech said in a statement on the clubs website.
I hope I could help this young group to achieve their aims for the period and try to win as many games as possible when I have the opportunity to play.
After 20 years of professional soccer this is going to be a wonderful adventure for me to play with the game I loved to play and watch as a child.
Phoenix head coach Andy Hemmings said:The signing of Petr is enormous for its Phoenix. Hes a great man who trains hard and I cannot wait to see him make his introduction.
Club head trainer Milos Melicherik added:Were very eager to have Petr join the Phoenix staff and were excited about seeing him in action in weekend.
Hes improved a lot since I first saw him around the ice hockey and I am excited to see him perform.
